Father Carlos Boozer’s Involvement Suspected by Fans as Cameron Boozer Rumored to be Number 2 Pick in the NBA Draft
Recent reports have bumped Cameron Boozer’s NBA Draft stock to potentially No. 2 overall, with the Utah Jazz allegedly interested in getting the services of the Duke Star. This is significant, not only because it makes him go up the charts of mock drafts, but because the franchise is one of his father’s, Carlos Boozer, former teams.
According to fans, it’s Carlos Boozer’s position as a scout in the Utah Jazz organization that has allowed his son, Cameron Boozer, to shut up the charts of the NBA Draft. People in social media were quick to accuse the two time NBA All-Star of nepotism.
“bc daddy’s in the front office,” claimed someone
There are other problems with drafting Cameron Boozer, said fans.
“I know its cause Carlos Boozer a scout but aint no way you draft Cameron Boozer and keep all of Lauri, JJJ & Kessler as well,” explained one fan
Others thought it was obvious this was going to happen.
A few fans did support the Duke star.
“Following right in his dad Carlos Boozer’s footsteps but carving out his own legacy! Seeing him projected this high is no surprise to anyone who has watched him dominate high school and college. He plays with so much maturity for his age. 🔥,”said one person
Another set of fans were a bit more nuanced.
“Nepotism or not, dude balled out as a freshman. Polished bigs who actually win don’t grow on trees. Respect the production,” wrote a fan
Carlos Boozer was with the Jazz from 2004 until 2010, his longest stint with a NBA franchise. In the process he was selected for the NBA All-Star game twice (2007, 2008) and was named to the All-NBA Third Team in 2008.

Cameron Boozer’s numbers in the 2025-26 season with Duke
Cameron Boozer only spent one season with the Duke Blue Devils at Durnham, but this was enough to leave a big impression on college basketball. He was named a Consensus First Team All-American, and the National College Player of the Year, alongside a plethora of other individual accolades.
In 2025-26, he averaged 22.6 points (9th in the nation), 10.2 rebounds (13th in the nation), 4.1 assists per game. He’s expected to be selected between the No. 2 and No. 4 spots of the first round of the NBA Draft.
