Former Al Ahly star Mohamed Abdel-Galil admitted to being fearful of Rulani Mokwena’s Pyramids FC, comparing them with one of South Africa’s giants, Mamelodi Sundowns.

Pyramids’ Impressive Start Under Mokwena

The New Cairo-based outfit have made an impressive start to the new campaign under their new manager, winning all of their first three league fixtures.

The side also picked up a 2-0 victory over Kenya’s Gor Mahia in the first leg of their first CAF Champions League qualifying round on Sunday.

Mohamed Abdel-Galil Compares Pyramids to Sundowns

Speaking on the TV show El Classico, Abdel-Galil admitted that Pyramids’ strength sends a warning to their rivals.

“Pyramids’ strength scares me. They remind me of Mamelodi Sundowns, especially in their playing style and the attacking personality they show during matches,” he said, per El Captain.

Abdel-Galil Hails Pyramids’ Away Form

“Pyramids have the ability to achieve positive results away from home, which brings back memories of Al Ahly during their golden generation, when the Red Devils enjoyed a strong character and won away games against all kinds of opponents,” he continued.

“Pyramids have become a difficult opponent, given the clear development in their level, their ability to impose their style, and how they secure strong results.

“They represent a real challenge for their competitors this season.”

Mokwena’s side will be in action once more on Wednesday, and will be looking to continue their good run of form when they take on El Gouna FC in an Egyptian Premier League encounter.
