EITI report to highlight gaps in Uganda’s extractive sector

Uganda’s extractive sector continues to face significant gaps in revenue reporting and transparency, according to previous EITI findings, as observers await the release of the fifth Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative report covering the 2023/24 financial year.

The report, scheduled for launch on 23 September 2026, is expected to provide the latest data on the sector’s contribution to the economy and government revenue. In the most recent published report (FY 2022/23), the sector contributed 1.47% to GDP and 1.13% of government revenues. Earlier reconciliation exercises have repeatedly highlighted weak compliance, with only a minority of companies submitting the required signed reporting templates.
