Egypt, Qatar discuss co-operation in disability services

Egypt’s Minister of Social Solidarity, Maya Morsy, held talks on Friday with the Director-General of the Doha International Centre for Special Needs (DICSN), Hala Al-Saeed, on ways to strengthen co-operation in disability services and benefit from the expertise and capabilities of specialised Egyptian civil society organisations and institutions.

Minister Morsy has said the ministry is participating in fitting and customisation centres as part of the integrated system for prosthetic limbs and assistive devices currently being implemented. The ministry’s efforts align with President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi’s directives to provide prosthetic limbs and assistive devices and offer comprehensive rehabilitation services to persons with disabilities.

According to her, the ministry is working to expand and increase the number of nurseries for children with disabilities, intellectual education institutions, language centres for the deaf and hard of hearing, physical therapy centres, autism care and rehabilitation centres, and institutions providing care for the visually impaired.

For her part, Al-Saeed outlined DICSN’s services and programmes for persons with disabilities and their families.

She has made it clear that DICSN seeks to support and rehabilitate families of persons with disabilities through an initiative adopted by the League of Arab States and implemented across various Arab countries.
