Egypt exported 135,000 tons of fresh produce between May 16 and May 22, 2026, according to the National Food Safety Authority’s 19th weekly report for the year.
The exports formed part of 5,440 food consignments shipped by 1,484 exporting companies to 191 countries.
Fruit exports totaled 88,000 tons across 36 product categories. Citrus led exports with 54,000 tons, followed by strawberries at approximately 17,000 tons and grapes at 12,000 tons.
Vegetable exports reached 47,000 tons across 44 product categories. Potatoes recorded the highest export volume at 11,000 tons, while sweet potatoes and onions each accounted for around 8,000 tons.
The Netherlands was the largest importer of Egyptian food exports during the reporting period, followed by Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Libya, and Sudan.
Among export ports, Damietta handled the largest number of consignments with 965 shipments. Safaga Port followed with 940 consignments, while Alexandria Port processed 757 export shipments during the week.
