Egypt Condemns Attacks on Oil Pipeline

Cairo, Egypt – The Arab Republic of Egypt has condemned, in the strongest terms, the terrorist attacks targeting the strategic East-West oil pipeline in the Riyadh and Medina regions of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. Egypt affirmed its unwavering and full solidarity with the Saudi leadership and people in confronting all security challenges and threats. In an official statement, the Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs declared that these heinous attacks constitute a flagrant violation of international law and undermine the security and stability of the entire region. Cairo further emphasized its complete support for Riyadh regarding all measures taken to protect its national security, sovereignty, territorial integrity, and vital facilities.

The Saudi Ministry of Energy announced that the East-West Pipeline—a vital artery for transporting oil from the Kingdom’s east to the port of Yanbu on the Red Sea coast—was targeted multiple times on Thursday morning, prompting a temporary, precautionary shutdown. Saudi authorities reported minor injuries resulting from the attacks and confirmed that the injured were receiving necessary medical care. Meanwhile, specialized technical and emergency teams immediately began work to secure the pipeline and repair the damage in accordance with established emergency protocols.

This new attack comes amidst a continuing escalation targeting vital facilities and energy infrastructure in the Kingdom. It coincides with broad regional tensions involving Yemen, the Bab al-Mandab Strait, and the Gulf of Aqaba. Consequently, the international community faces a heightened responsibility to deter these assaults, which threaten global energy security and the stability of international markets.
