Econet Zimbabwe begins building 100 MW solar plant in push for energy autonomy

Econet Wireless Zimbabwe has broken ground for a 100 MW solar and battery power plant scheme, NewsDay reported. It represents one of the nation’s largest private-sector investments in renewable energy and serves as the infrastructure centerpiece for the company’s 800-acre Econet Tech City. It will supply electricity to Econet’s core Harare operations, including its data centres and network infrastructure, mitigating the operational risks of Zimbabwe’s unpredictable power grid.
