Drones attacked one of Russia’s largest oil refineries in Tatarstan
On the morning of September 13, oil refining infrastructure was attacked in Nizhnekamsk, in the Republic of Tatarstan, Russia. The city is home to one of the largest and most modern oil refining complexes in the Russian Federation.
Nizhnekamsk is home to one of Russia’s key oil refining hubs, which includes the Taneco refinery.
This complex is a vital component of Russia’s fuel and energy infrastructure and is regularly targeted by Ukrainian long-range drones.
The Nizhnekamsk oil refining complex is of strategic importance for supplying Russian troops with fuel. The facility participates in the supply of fuel and lubricants needed by Russian military equipment and units operating, in particular, on the eastern and southern fronts.
Information regarding the specific consequences of the attack on the facility in Nizhnekamsk is currently being verified.
On the night of September 13, explosions were also heard in Slavyansk-on-Kuban in the Krasnodar Krai of the Russian Federation.
According to preliminary reports, a thermal power plant and the Slavyansk Oil Refinery were hit. A fire broke out at the refinery following the strikes.
Thus, over the course of a single night, Russian fuel and energy infrastructure facilities in various regions of the country came under attack.

On the night of September 12, Ukrainian drones continued to respond symmetrically to Russian attacks on our cities. The drones struck two Russian cities—Tolyatti and Taganrog. In Togliatti, a strategic chemical plant was targeted, while in Taganrog, several fires were reported, including at the airport and a car factory.
As a reminder, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy stated: Russia, as an aggressor state, will face a response if it launches strikes against Ukraine’s energy system this winter.
President Volodymyr Zelenskyy reported on the results of Ukrainian long-range strikes aimed at weakening Russia’s capacity to wage war against Ukraine. In particular, Ukrainian strikes hit targets in Dagestan and Udmurtia.
