Defense Ministry responds to attack against military personnel in Bani Walid

The First Border Sector of the Border Guard and Vital Installations Department, affiliated with Libya’s Government of National Unity Ministry of Defense, said its personnel and members of the 444 Combat Brigade were unharmed after coming under attack in Bani Walid early Tuesday while stationed at their positions and carrying out their duties.

The First Border Sector said the attack targeted its personnel deployed in the area alongside members of the 444 Combat Brigade, confirming that no casualties were reported among either force.

It said the competent authorities had launched an investigation into the circumstances of the attack and were working to identify, arrest and refer those responsible to the relevant authorities for legal action.

In a separate statement, the First Border Sector urged media outlets and news pages to exercise accuracy and credibility when reporting on the incident and to rely on official sources, warning against circulating inaccurate or unverified information.

It said unreliable reports could confuse the public or affect the investigation and urged against spreading rumors or content it described as intended to sow discord among members of the military establishment.

The statement came following the early Tuesday attack in Bani Walid as authorities continued investigating the incident and working to identify those responsible.
