Dbeibah opens 29th session of Arab Industrial Development Organization

Libyan Prime Minister Abdul Hamid Dbeibah on Thursday inaugurated the 29th General Assembly of the Arab Industrial Development, Standardization and Mining Organization (AIDSMO), hosted in Tripoli at the ministerial level by the Ministry of Industry and Minerals, with delegations from 21 Arab countries taking part.

The opening session was attended by AIDSMO Director-General Adel Al-Saqr, along with industry ministers and senior officials from the organization’s member states.

The event marked the official launch of the Arab Industrial Indicators Platform, one of the organization’s strategic initiatives aimed at creating a unified Arab database of industrial indicators to support economic policymaking, improve decision-making, and provide accurate data for measuring industrial sector performance across Arab countries.

Participants also discussed initiatives to accelerate digital transformation and expand the use of artificial intelligence technologies in industry, standardization, and mining, with the goal of boosting productivity, strengthening the competitiveness of Arab industries, and keeping pace with global developments.

In his opening remarks, Dbeibah said that economic integration among Arab countries is “no longer an option but a necessity,” adding: “Our responsibility is to move beyond exchanging ideas toward building partnerships and launching genuine visions that benefit our peoples.”

He said the Arab world possesses vast resources, large markets, and promising human capital, and stressed the need to transform these assets into joint projects and real opportunities that enhance regional competitiveness.

Dbeibah added that his government is working to develop Libya’s industrial sector, improve the investment climate, reactivate industrial zones, and make better use of the country’s mineral resources.

“True development is not based on resources alone, but on good governance and investment in people,” he said, adding that “the future of Arab industry will not be built through isolated efforts, but through the integration of expertise, coordinated policies, and expanded joint investments. Our strength lies in our unity, and our future lies in working together.”
