Colombia’s First Lady, Ana Lucía Pineda, Has a Twin Who Looks Exactly Like Her
Ana Lucia Pineda, wife of President Abelardo de la Espriella, has had extensive media exposure during the political campaign of the current head of state, and now as the head of the ‘Colombia One Heart’ campaign, which seeks to channel aid to those affected by the August 10 earthquake. Much is known about her, but little about her twin sister, Maria Victoria.
The two are the youngest daughters of Gabriel Antonio Pineda and Regina Victoria Aruachan, and also siblings of Lilian Maria and Jose Gabriel. The family, originally from Monteria, capital of the department of Cordoba, in Colombia’s Caribbean region, later moved permanently to Bogota, the capital, where Ana Lucia and Maria Victoria were known as the Pineda twins.
Abelardo de la Espriella got confused by the twins
They were so much alike that when Abelardo de la Espriella, already graduated as a lawyer from Sergio Arboleda University, crossed paths with one of the two young women, “she seemed, at the same time, unfamiliar and familiar to him. Although he knew she was one of the Pineda twins, he could not figure out which of the two it was,” reports the outlet Las2Orillas.
De la Espriella asked his mother to find out the whereabouts of the Pineda twins (who were born on October 8, 1987, in Monteria) whom he had met many years earlier in Monteria. That was how he learned that they were studying Business Administration at Javeriana University in Bogota.
His inquiries led to a meeting with the woman who would become his wife, Ana Lucia, which took place in Bogota, when she was eighteen years old and he was 29. The friendship later turned into a relationship in 2005 and was formalized on December 13, 2008, with a wedding at the San Pedro Claver Church, in Cartagena. Today they have been married for eighteen years and have four children: Lucia, Salvador, Filippo and Francesca.
Maria Victoria, for her part, is a professional in Business Administration and Management and had experience as head of marketing at the University of Sinu. Her professional profile, therefore, has developed mainly in business and management fields, away from the political exposure that now accompanies her sister. That is why little is known about her.
The business database Dun & Bradstreet identifies Maria Victoria as principal of Dominio De La Espriella S. A. S. and also lists her as an authorized representative of that company, with its address in Barranquilla.
Public interest in Maria Victoria soared not only because of the desire to learn more about the new first lady of the nation, Ana Lucia, but also because of the physical resemblance between the two sisters.
The charisma and style that Ana Lucia has shown have made people want to know more about her and her family, but now with particular interest in her twin sister. It is one of the impacts on the family environment of President De la Espriella’s arrival to power.
