ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – Clashes between several armed groups erupted in Sweida in southern Syria, causing material damage to several homes and triggering fear and anxiety among civilians in the city, Al-Ikhbariyah Syria reported Saturday.
Al-Ikhbariyah, citing a local source, said the clashes began Friday evening.
No official or independently verified information has so far been released regarding deaths or injuries resulting from the tensions.
Details about the cause of the incident and the identities of the groups involved also remain unclear.
However, according to locally circulated information that has not yet been independently verified, the tensions began at a wedding celebration before escalating into an armed confrontation.
Sweida province has faced insecurity and tensions since July 2025.
On July 13 this year, intense fighting erupted between Druze armed groups and Bedouin Arabs and continued for six days.
The clashes, which also involved Syrian security forces and Israel, pushed the area into a severe humanitarian crisis. The violence also damaged electricity networks across the area, resulting in power outages and directly affecting water supplies in Sweida.
