Chiefs Reunion On The Cards For Blom

Stellenbosch FC have confirmed the signing of Njabulo Blom on a season-long loan deal from Indonesian Super League side Borneo Samarinda.

As confirmed by the Cape Winelands side, the move was completed before Monday’s transfer deadline, with the former Kaizer Chiefs midfielder having since arrived in Stellenbosch to link up with coach Gavin Hunt and the rest of the squad.

Blom, 26, returns to Mzansi’s topflight after spells abroad, having previously spent time with Major League Soccer outfit St. Louis City as well as two spells with Kaizer Chiefs.

The twice-capped Bafana Bafana international is now looking to use his time at Stellenbosch to get back to playing regular competitive football — and he could not hide his excitement at the new challenge.

“I’m Excited to Be Here”

The midfielder expressed his enthusiasm about joining the Cape Winelands outfit, highlighting the club’s professionalism and track record of developing players as key factors in his decision.

“I’m excited to be here, and to start this journey in a new environment. I’m looking forward to the challenge and building relationships with my new teammates. I will do my best to help the team and see what we can achieve together,” Blom said, as confirmed by Stellenbosch FC.

“Stellenbosch is a professional and well-run club, and players who have played here in the past have enjoyed success, so I felt that it was a good environment for me to grow and to play competitive football again.”

Working Under Gavin Hunt

Blom also highlighted the opportunity to work under Hunt, who he believes can help him rediscover his best form after a period away from regular domestic football.

“I know coach Gavin demands a lot from his players and that will also help me improve and get back to my best,” he added.

Debut Against Former Club Looms

The midfielder will wear the No. 35 jersey for Stellenbosch this season, with his arrival adding further experience to Hunt’s squad. Interestingly, Blom could make his Stellenbosch debut against his former club, with the Maroons scheduled to face Chiefs in a league encounter on October 17 — a fixture that will no doubt carry extra significance for the 26-year-old.
