CAS sets October hearing for Senegal appeal over AFCON final

Friday 24 July 2026 – 19:48

The Court of Arbitration for Sport will hear Senegal’s appeal over the disputed 2025 Africa Cup of Nations final against Morocco on October 8 at its headquarters in Lausanne, the tribunal said on Friday.

The Senegalese Football Federation is challenging a CAF Appeal Board decision that declared Senegal to have forfeited the final and recorded Morocco as 3-0 winners. Senegal is asking CAS to overturn that ruling and declare it the tournament champion.

CAS registered the appeal on March 25 against the Confederation of African Football and the Royal Moroccan Football Federation.

The parties did not agree to an expedited procedure, meaning the case is following the tribunal’s standard timetable. The hearing date was set after consultation with all sides.

The hearing will take place behind closed doors because none of the parties requested a public session.

CAS said its arbitration panel would begin deliberations after the hearing but could not yet indicate when a ruling would be issued. It stressed that no decision would be announced on October 8.

The tribunal also warned that inaccurate information had circulated about the proceedings and said only announcements released through its official channels should be considered authoritative.
