Arinn Young led the way with 23 points, six rebounds and nine assists as Canada remained undefeated with an 80-37 win over Brazil in Group A action at the wheelchair basketball world championships on Sunday at TD Place.
Cindy Ouellet and Elise Froese each added 15 points off the bench as Canada improved to 4-0 at the tournament.
“It was really a team win,” said Canadian veteran Élodie Tessier. “Coming off such an emotional game against China that can sometimes lower the pressure for the next one.’’
Geisa Vieira paced Brazil with eight points.
The Canadians got off to a hot start, taking a 19-4 edge into the break after the first quarter and never looked back.
Canada was outrebounded 33-31, but shot 56 per cent from the field, held a 26-14 edge in assists and forced Brazil into 28 turnovers while only having nine.
Canada will finish the group stage with a game against Great Britain on Tuesday at Carleton University.
