Canada, Haudenosaunee and Jamaica score big wins on day one of 2026 Pan-American Men’s Lacrosse Championship

Three top-ten ranked teams – Canada, Haudenosaunee and Jamaica – asserted themselves with dominant wins on the opening day of the 2026 Pan-American Men’s Lacrosse Championship in Kingston on Monday.
The Haudenosaunee and Canada are tied atop Pool B, and will face off tomorrow in a critical matchup towards the medal round, with only the top team from each pool advancing to the final.
Jamaica grabbed the lead in Pool A, and the United States will take the field in Kingston for the first time on Tuesday against Puerto Rico.
The U.S. Virgin Islands also will make its debut against Mexico in a high-stakes match towards qualification.
The top five teams qualify for the 2027 World Lacrosse Men’s Championship in Tokyo.

The Haudenosaunee put on an attacking clinic in the first game of the championship, erupting for 28 goals.
Julien Watts set the tone on face-offs with 20 out of 28 won, and the Haudenosaunee outshot Argentina 59-8.
Ten different players recorded multi-point outings on the day for the Haudenosaunee, led by Koleton Marquis with eight and Gregory Elijah-Brown with seven.
Connor Hollison made 11 saves for Argentina and Tomas Acuña scored the team’s lone goal.

Canada’s star-studded attack got into gear early with 29 shots in the first half and a 7-0 first quarter.
The Canadians were only denied more thanks to a heroic effort in net from Matthew Murakami, who made 13 saves at a 52% clip in the first half for Mexico.
Jake Stevens was the most prolific attacker on the day with four goals on seven shots, and Finn Thomson added two goals and two assists.
Jack Oldman keyed Canada with 15 wins out of 22 on face-offs.

Colombia pushed Jamaica into the second quarter, but the host found its groove by the end of the first half and cruised away with a comfortable win behind a spirited crowd.
Five players ended with a hat trick or better for Jamaica when all was said and done, with four goals for Elias McLaughlin and three each for Stone Evans, Hayden Hiltz, Isaac Newland and Karl Robison.
Robison was dominant on the X with 18 wins out of 24.
Sebastian Gomez had a strong start for Colombia in net with seven saves in the first quarter.
