Brazil offers AI training to 5,000 women entrepreneurs
A government-backed initiative in Brazil combines practical AI training with mentoring and support for women-led small businesses.
Brazil has opened registrations for a free AI training programme offering 5,000 places to women entrepreneurs across the country, with half of the places reserved for Black women.
The ‘Women’s Impact – Artificial Intelligence for Small Businesses Led by Women’ programme will begin on 1 September and will be delivered online.
Participants will attend ten live classes and ten group mentoring sessions covering the use of AI in business management, planning, marketing, sales, customer service, data analysis, productivity, and innovation.
The initiative in Brazil is organised by the Ministry of Entrepreneurship, Microenterprise and Small Business and the Rede Mulher Empreendedora Institute.
The mentoring component is intended to help participants apply what they learn to their businesses, while 50 participating businesses will subsequently be selected to receive seed funding for projects developed during the programme.
A programme that combines AI skills development with measures aimed at expanding women’s participation in entrepreneurship and the digital economy.
Reserving 50% of places for Black women also introduces an inclusion component intended to target a group that the programme identifies for dedicated access to the training.
Why does it matter?
As AI tools become increasingly integrated into business processes, access to the skills required to use them can affect the ability of small businesses and workers to participate in the digital economy. Brazil’s programme addresses this issue through targeted training in practical business applications of AI rather than general digital literacy.
