Brazil expands beef export access to Indonesia with 21 new plants
Brazilian beef exports to Indonesia gained new room for growth after the Asian country approved 21 additional Brazilian facilities to ship beef to its market.
With the new authorizations, Indonesia now recognizes 73 Brazilian SIF-registered plants, belonging to 26 companies. The approvals followed an audit carried out by the Directorate General of Livestock and Animal Health Services, under Indonesia’s Ministry of Agriculture, between June 27 and July 5, 2026. All 21 Brazilian facilities audited were cleared.
The newly approved plants belong to Frigomarca, Frigorífico Silva, Frigosul, Golden Imex, JBS, Masterboi, Naturafrig and Plena. All of the companies are members of the Brazilian Beef Exporters Association, known as Abiec.
The facilities are located across the states of Acre, Goiás, Mato Grosso, Mato Grosso do Sul, Pará, Pernambuco, Rio Grande do Sul, Rondônia, São Paulo and Tocantins.
Since 2025, Brazil has secured 52 new authorizations to serve the Indonesian market. As a result, the number of approved plants has risen from 21 to 73, an increase of about 247%.
The previous round of approvals took place in September 2025, when 17 additional Brazilian units were cleared. That same year, Indonesia also expanded market access for Brazilian beef to include products such as bone-in beef, offal, meat products and prepared meat products.
The broader access comes as trade between the two countries expands. According to Abiec, Brazil exported 43,200 metric tons of beef to Indonesia in 2025.
That volume made Indonesia the 13th-largest destination for Brazilian beef exports last year. With a population of more than 280 million, the Asian country is a relevant market for Brazil’s strategy to diversify beef export destinations.

The new approvals are the result of negotiations led by Brazil’s agriculture ministry MAPA with Indonesian authorities, with technical support from the private sector.
“This result shows the importance of the work MAPA has been doing to open and expand markets for Brazilian beef. Indonesia is an important partner, and there is still plenty of room for us to advance. Diversifying destinations strengthens the sector without changing a fundamental characteristic of our production: about 70% of the beef produced in Brazil remains in the domestic market. The more markets and approved plants we have, the more opportunities we create for the entire chain,” said Abiec President Roberto Perosa.
The increase in authorized facilities expands Brazil’s capacity to supply Indonesia and reinforces the country’s strategy of broadening the destination base for its beef exports.
