The Vodacom Bulls have confirmed the signing of Springbok flyhalf Curwin Bosch on a three-year deal.
The 27-year-old, who earned two Test caps in 2017 and 2018, will arrive at Loftus in July after a two-season stint with French Pro D2 club Brive. He previously played for the Sharks (2016 to 2023) and also had a short stint in Japan with the Munakata Sanix Blues (2018).
Known for his tactical kicking game and goal-kicking accuracy, Bosch gives the Bulls another experienced option at flyhalf and fullback.
He headlines a raft of new signings announced by the Bulls on Monday.
Former Sharks wing Thaakir Abrahams returns to South Africa from Munster on a two-year contract, while Leicester Tigers loose forward Hanro Liebenberg heads back to Pretoria on a three-year deal.
JAN: Retirement decision ‘gnawed’ at me
One of the country’s most highly rated young talents, Luan Giliomee, has also signed a three-year contract with the Bulls. The 19-year-old Junior Bok made his Vodacom URC debut for the Sharks at fullback earlier this season, although he is regarded primarily as a flyhalf.
Giliomee is joined by two Sharks teammates, fullback Hakeem Kunene (three-year contract) and tighthead prop Mawande Mdanda (two-year contract).
The Bulls have also picked up Griquas wing Dylan Maart and Pumas outside centre Sango Xamlashe, who will join them after the Currie Cup on two-year deals.
ACKERS: Cheswill injury the ‘only negative’
“We have been very deliberate in our recruitment process, identifying specific areas where we felt we needed to bolster our depth and experience,” said Bulls CEO Edgar Rathbone.
“Bringing in players of this calibre, ranging from proven match-winners to the most exciting young talent in the country, is a clear statement of our intent. We are building a squad capable of sustained success in both the URC and Europe, and we are thrilled to welcome these men to the Loftus family.”
Meanwhile, junior to senior extensions were granted to tighthead prop Jean Erasmus (three years), lock Heinrich Theron (three years), loose forward JJ Theron (two years), centre Pieter van der Merwe (three years) and Demetri Erasmus (three years).
