Romuald Wadagni was sworn in as Benin’s new president on Sunday after winning an election widely seen as consolidating the country’s policy direction over the past decade.
Wadagni, a long-time finance minister and key architect of Benin’s economic reforms, secured 94% of the vote last month in a race that excluded major opposition candidates, reinforcing the dominance of the ruling coalition after a decade in power.
