Become “Seed of the Gospel” in Society, Resist Corruption, Angolan Catholic Bishop Tells Youth

Bishop Hisilenapo called for the pastoral and religious integration of young people through greater participation in the Catholic Church and its groups.

He urged them to “love the Church” and “identify with the Church,” including by sharing in the challenges it faces.

Their involvement, he emphasized, should extend beyond religious activities to other sectors of society.

Bishop Hisilenapo called for a generation capable of confronting contemporary challenges “without fear, with formation and a sense of responsibility” and becoming positive examples to peers and communities.

The Fourth National Youth Day has brought together young people from Catholic Dioceses across Angola and São Tomé and Príncipe for catechesis, prayer, liturgical celebrations, social and environmental activities, cultural exchanges and fellowship.

For Bishop Hisilenapo, the gathering offers young Catholics an opportunity to move beyond passive observation and take a firm position on matters affecting society.

“Young people must have the courage to resist corruption,” he said.
