The Nigerian women’s Beach Volleyball team has qualified for the Olympic Games for the first time in history after defeating Morocco 2-0 in the final of the 2026 CAVB Women’s Beach Volleyball on Saturday.
The team will fly Nigeria’s flag at the 2028 Olympic Games in Los Angeles, U.S., after their impressive victory against Morocco.
The women beat Morocco in both sets, 21-17 and 21-10, in Alexandria, Egypt, on Saturday to clinch gold and secure their ticket to the Olympic Games.
Earlier on Saturday, the team dispatched Mozambique in the Semi-final, beating their opponents 21-17 in both sets.
Reacting to the achievement, the President of the Nigeria Volleyball Federation (NVBF), Musa Nimrod, said the victory was for the entire nation after years of narrowly missing out on the Olympics qualification.

“I wish to congratulate Nigerians and thank God. This is the fourth time we are going into the finals; we finished in second place on three occasions,” Mr Nimrod said.
“God has done it for us on our fourth trial and given us victory. It is not the Nigeria Volleyball Federation’s success alone but the entire nation,” he added.
