Azonsou believes Benin can shock  Flamingos – The Nation Newspaper

Benin Republic U-17 women’s coach Idah Azonsou believes his team can upset Nigeria’s Flamingos and qualify for the 2026 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup.

The Young Amazons have begun preparations for next month’s two-legged qualifying tie against the Nigerian side.

Despite acknowledging Nigeria’s strength, Azonsou is optimistic.

 “We know that Nigeria is a major force in women’s football and consistently performs at this level,” he said.

 “That is why we are working hard to face them and, hopefully, secure a historic qualification for the U-17 World Cup.”

The first leg will be played at the Remo Stars Sports Complex on July 4, while the return leg is scheduled for July 11 at the Kégué Stadium in Lomé.
