Ayoub El Kaabi Suffers Serious-Looking Injury in Olympiacos Match

Rabat Moroccan international Ayoub El Kaabi suffered a serious-looking injury during Olympiacos’ Greek Super League match against Volos NFC on Saturday.

El Kaabi was forced to leave the game late in the first half after a collision with Volos goalkeeper Marios Siampanis.

The incident happened inside the Volos penalty area. El Kaabi was chasing the ball when Siampanis came out to challenge for it.

The goalkeeper collided with the Moroccan striker. El Kaabi’s left leg appeared to become trapped between Siampanis and the pitch.

The forward immediately showed signs of severe pain. He held his leg as medical staff rushed onto the field.

El Kaabi’s screams could be heard around the Panthessaliko Stadium. Players from both teams also appeared shocked by the incident.

The Moroccan striker was later carried off the pitch on a stretcher. He was replaced by Mexican forward Armando “Hormiga” González.

Olympiacos coach José Luis Mendilibar quickly turned to González after El Kaabi’s injury.

The Mexican forward could now have a bigger role for Olympiacos if El Kaabi is ruled out for an extended period.

There is no official medical diagnosis from Olympiacos yet. Initial reports have raised concerns about a possible serious leg injury. However, further medical examinations are needed to determine the exact nature of the injury.

The incident also resulted in a penalty for Olympiacos. Jota Silva took the spot kick in first-half stoppage time and scored.

Silva did not celebrate after scoring. He appeared to dedicate the goal to his injured teammate.

Siampanis received a yellow card following the collision.

Olympiacos are now expected to provide further updates on El Kaabi’s condition after his medical examinations.
