Nigerian Army says troops have destroyed ten illegal refining sites and arrested nine suspected oil thieves during operations across the Niger Delta region.
The Army also said about one hundred and thirty thousand litres of stolen crude oil and twenty six thousand litres of Automotive Gas Oil, also known as diesel, valued at two hundred and fifty million naira were confiscated.
In a statement, the Acting Deputy Director of 6 Division Army Public Relations, Lieutenant Colonel Jonah Danjuma, said these were recorded, nearly one month of coordinated operations carried out in collaboration with other security agencies.
According to him, the operations were conducted across four states, Rivers, Delta, Akwa Ibom, and Bayelsa with troops maintaining strong dominance across the operational landscape.
Danjuma noted that in Rivers State, several raids were carried out in creeks, rivulets, and hinterland areas, known for illegal refining activities.
