Argentina Rejects Morocco’s $1 Million Offer for Friendly Match

Rabat – The Argentine Football Association has reportedly rejected a proposal from the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) to play a friendly match against Morocco during the upcoming international break.

According to Argentine journalist Veronica Brunati, Argentina will not face Morocco in October.

Brunati revealed on X that the FRMF had offered $1 million to bring the Argentine national team to Morocco for a friendly match in Rabat.

However, the Argentine federation rejected the proposal. The federation reportedly prefers to play its upcoming friendly matches on home soil and is continuing to look for opponents to host in Argentina.

Morocco had been looking to use the upcoming international window to face a high-level opponent.

Head coach Mohamed Ouahbi has previously stressed the importance of playing strong teams as part of the national team’s preparations.

“I asked for a strong match in September to continue putting ourselves in challenging situations. We need to play more friendly matches that give us strong tests,” Ouahbi said.

The Atlas Lions currently have two matches on their schedule during the international break.

Morocco will face Gabon on September 25 at 8 p.m. in Rabat in the 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.

The national team will then travel to Bloemfontein, South Africa, to face Lesotho on September 29 at 3 p.m.

Morocco is still waiting to confirm the identity of the opponent for its planned friendly during the same period.

The international window runs from September 21 to October 6, giving the Atlas Lions an opportunity to add another high-level test to their schedule.
