Angolan startup KambaWork launches employment platform

Angolan startup KambaWork has launched an employment and opportunities platform that brings jobs, internships, volunteering, scholarships, courses and micro-work into one digital environment. 

Launched this year, KambaWork allows users to create profiles and CVs, search by province and category, and apply for opportunities, while companies and institutions can create company accounts, publish opportunities and interact with candidates in a more organised way.

The aim is to create more job opportunities for Angolan youth.

“The problem is not only a lack of jobs. Opportunities are often fragmented across Facebook pages, WhatsApp groups, company websites and informal networks. This makes it difficult for young people to know what is real, current or relevant, and it makes recruitment less structured for employers,” Tárcio Costa, founder and CEO of KambaWork, told Disrupt Africa.

KambaWork has been bootstrapped to date, and has thus far been focused on building the product, testing it with users and proving demand before pursuing larger partnerships or external financing.

The website is already accessible in a soft-launch phase, with young people registering, sending CVs and applying to opportunities. The platform currently includes 42 initial opportunities and is designed to cover Angola nationally, from Cabinda to Cunene.

It is still early, but the response has been encouraging. Young people are already creating accounts and contacting KambaWork directly asking for work, internships and guidance. Some are already submitting CVs and applying for public opportunities listed on the platform. That early behaviour is useful because it is giving us real-world feedback before the official launch,” said Costa.
