Angolan Catholic Youths Gather in Luanda Archdiocese for Four Days of Faith, Formation and Service

One of the principal initiatives will be a clean-up campaign at Praia Amélia. The activity replaces an earlier plan to conduct the clean-up in the Mabunda area.

Bishop Chissengueti said the change was made to adapt the intervention to the program’s conditions.

The social component will also include blood donation campaigns, road-safety awareness and other initiatives intended to encourage young Catholics to serve their communities.

The Angolan member of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit (CSSp./Holy Ghost Fathers/Spiritans) said participants would leave for the sites of the social activities at 9 a.m.

With large numbers of young people travelling to and around Luanda during the gathering, Bishop Chissengueti appealed to bus drivers and participants using private vehicles to exercise caution on the roads.

“We want to ask all bus drivers and those coming in their own cars to drive safely,” he said.

He emphasized that road safety would be essential to ensuring that participants attend the various activities and return home safely at the end of the event.

“This recommendation should enable everyone to arrive safely, participate enthusiastically and, at the end, return home in good health and safety,” he said.

The Youth Day will also provide opportunities for the young participants to deepen their spiritual lives.

Bishop Chissengueti highlighted the “Park of Confessions” at the Sacred Heart of Jesus Major Seminary of Luanda, where numerous priests will be available to hear confessions.
