Allan Okello Joins Young Africans

Uganda Cranes midfielder Allan Okello has officially completed a high-profile move to Tanzania Premier League giants Young Africans SC (Yanga), marking a major milestone in his career.

The transfer, confirmed by both clubs, is reported to be worth $300,000 (approximately UGX 1 billion). The deal goes down as the second-most expensive sale in Vipers SC history, only surpassed by Farouk Miya’s move to Standard Liège in 2016.

Okello was officially unveiled as a Yanga player on Monday evening, with the Jangwani-based club rolling out the red carpet for the highly-rated playmaker. “Star Boy has arrived,” Young Africans announced across their social media platforms, welcoming the Ugandan international into the famous green and yellow.

Vipers SC, where Okello has spent the last two seasons, also confirmed his departure and paid glowing tribute to his impact at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende.

“Vipers Sports Club has officially confirmed the departure of midfield star Allan Okello, bringing the curtain down on a remarkable and trophy-laden spell at St Mary’s Stadium, Kitende, following the completion of his transfer to Tanzanian giants Young Africans SC (Yanga).

During his time with the Venoms, Okello was a key figure, scoring 26 goals across two years. He played a central role in Vipers’ domestic double last season and finished as the Uganda Premier League top scorer with an impressive 19 goals.

At 25, Okello now embarks on a new chapter in Dar es Salaam, where he will be tasked with helping Yanga maintain their domestic dominance and push for greater success on the continental stage.
