Libya’s Al Ahli Tripoli will face Zanzibar’s KMKM in the first preliminary round of the CAF Confederation Cup, following the draw held in Cairo on Thursday.
The first leg is scheduled to take place in Zanzibar between 4 and 6 September, with the return leg in Tripoli between 11 and 13 September, according to the timetable set by the Confederation of African Football.
If Al Ahli progress, they will meet the winner of the tie between Sudan’s Hilal Al-Sahil and Ethiopia’s Wolwalo Adigrat in the second preliminary round. The first leg would be played away, with the return leg in Libya between 16 and 25 October.
Al Ahli Tripoli head into the tie with a psychological edge, having beaten KMKM 6–0 on aggregate in the 2022 CAF Champions League preliminary round. They won 2–0 away before sealing a 4–0 victory in the return leg in Benghazi.
