Abdessamad Ezzalzouli Requests Exemption From Morocco Camp

Rabat – Moroccan international Abdessamad Ezzalzouli is expected to miss Morocco’s upcoming Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifying matches against Gabon and Lesotho, according to Moroccan sports newspaper Al Mountakhab.

The Real Betis winger has reportedly asked the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF) and the national team’s technical staff to exempt him from the upcoming training camp.

According to Al Mountakhab, the request is linked to Ezzalzouli’s physical condition and his desire to continue his recovery from an injury that has limited his involvement in recent months.

The 24-year-old has yet to make an official appearance for Real Betis during the current season. He has not featured in either La Liga or European competition, making his presence in Morocco’s upcoming camp increasingly unlikely.

Morocco is scheduled to face Gabon on September 25 before taking on Lesotho on September 29 in the AFCON qualifiers.

National team coach Mohamed Ouahbi is expected to announce his final squad for the two matches next Thursday. According to Al Mountakhab, the list could feature several changes, with a number of players from previous camps potentially left out as the coaching staff looks to give opportunities to new faces.

Ezzalzouli’s potential absence would deprive the Atlas Lions of another attacking option during the September international window.

The winger has been part of Morocco’s squad in recent international campaigns and remains an important option on the flanks when fully fit. However, his current lack of competitive playing time appears to have complicated his availability for the upcoming fixtures.
