Yemen Army Drone Strike Kills Five Houthi Fighters in Dhale
Military officials say the strike targeted a Houthi gathering at a building in Damt, triggering an explosion and fire
ERBIL (Kurdistan24) – The Yemeni army carried out a drone strike targeting a gathering of Houthi fighters in Damt district in southern Dhale province, killing five fighters and wounding several others, according to a military statement.
On Saturday, a military source cited by the Yemeni armed forces’ media center said the strike targeted a Houthi gathering inside the Ferdaws building at the southern entrance of Damt.
The source said the operation caused an ammunition depot inside the building to explode, with a fire breaking out at the site following the strike.
Although the intensity of major fighting in Dhale has declined compared with previous years, fronts across the province continue to witness intermittent clashes and military operations.
The Yemeni armed forces’ media center released several video clips on Friday showing army drone operations targeting Houthi fighters across several fronts.
Damt holds strategic military importance because of its location connecting Dhale and Ibb provinces and its proximity to confrontation lines between government forces and the Houthis.
In recent months, government forces have intensified their use of drones for reconnaissance and for targeting Houthi positions and movements across several fronts. The operations are part of efforts to limit the group’s military capabilities and disrupt its supply lines.
