Central Equatoria State Governor Emmanuel Adil has visited families displaced from their homes in Sokare, Liwolo Payam of Kajo-Keji County, where he delivered food assistance amid an ongoing humanitarian crisis.
The displaced families fled their homes following clashes and tensions along the South Sudan-Uganda border.
South Sudanese authorities had accused the Uganda People’s Defence Forces (UPDF) of occupying parts of Kajo-Keji County, an allegation that Uganda has disputed.
A dialogue held in Arua, Uganda over the weekend involving the neighboring communities resolved to revive earlier joint security mechanisms to prevent further violence while promoting peace and cross-border trade and movement
According to the Office of the Governor, Adil distributed food items, including beans and flour, to displaced families sheltering at St. Paul Cathedral in Sokare.

During the visit, the governor said the state government is working with the national government and humanitarian partners to mobilize assistance and pursue a peaceful resolution to the border dispute.
He also briefed the displaced families on the resolutions reached during the recent joint South Sudan-Uganda border dialogue and urged them to support efforts aimed at restoring peace and enabling their safe return home.
The displaced families welcomed the governor’s visit and appealed for a lasting solution to the border tensions so they can return to their villages.
