Radar appoints John Cameron as its first head of digital studios

In this newly created role at the rapidly evolving company, Cameron, who is based in the UK, will be responsible for the day-to-day management of Radar’s digital channel network; devising and implementing channel monetisation strategies along with the smooth delivery of content across the 25+ digital channels currently managed by the business. He will report into Radar’s General Manager, Louisa Emery.

John brings more than 20 years of experience delivering content across digital, broadcast, branded campaigns and sport, through senior production roles at several leading companies, including Fremantle, Banijay, The Football Association and Atomized Studios.

Cameron has led creative teams on some of the UK’s biggest entertainment franchises, notably Britain’s Got Talent, Big Brother, The X Factor, Sport Relief and Comic Relief. As Executive Digital Producer on Britain’s Got Talent, John and his team more than doubled the show’s social following in under two years, while his innovative social strategy for Big Brother / Celebrity Big Brother won a Broadcast Digital Award.

Louisa Emery, General Manager of Radar, says, ‘I am delighted to welcome John to Radar – and the wider WTFN group. He has worked for some of the biggest players and highest-profile content brands in our industry and brings valuable specialist knowledge and expertise to the team. Having a senior member of the team based in Europe will also prove a real asset’.

Derek Dyson, Chief Commercial Officer at WTFN, adds: ‘Our distribution business continues to evolve, and John’s appointment will play a timely and pivotal role as we double-down on recent growth and set new strategies for the future. Together with our recently announced hire of Jamie I to lead APAC sales for Fred Media, I am confident that these two senior appointments will turbo-charge our Total Distribution strategy and help take our business to the next level’.

John Cameron comments: ‘Radar has quietly grown into one of the biggest and most impressive digital businesses operating today, managing many high-profile owned and partner channels, including Bondi Vet and Real Emergency. I am excited to now work with the team – as well as its creator, broadcaster and other IP owner partners – to explore additional opportunities to grow their brands and maximise their potential’.
