At the end of suspense, Cameroon eliminates Morocco
Ten years later, Cameroon returns to the Women’s AFCON final. The Indomitable Lionesses pulled off a massive feat by knocking out the Lionesses of the Atlas, the big favorites of the competition, at the Moulay El Hassan Stadium in Rabat. Defensively solid, the Cameroonian team took Morocco all the way to penalties. Thanks to three saves from their goalkeeper Michaely, Cameroon brought down the Moroccan team (3-1, 0-0 after extra time).
Morocco had the opportunity to put the match to bed in the final minutes of extra time. The team had a chance to score after a Cameroonian foul in the penalty area. But Fatima Tagnaout missed her penalty against an impeccable Michaely. Yet another disappointment for the Lionesses of the Atlas.
