A Sudanese rights group said Tuesday that 10 people were killed and dozens injured when a drone attack by the Rapid Support Forces (RSF) targeted a courthouse in the city of Um Rawaba in the North Kordofan state.

“The preliminary death toll from the attack stands at 10, with dozens injured,” the Emergency Lawyers group said in a statement.

The attack renewed growing concerns over the safety of civilians and court workers across Sudan, the group warned.

It called for an immediate halt to attacks on civilians and civilian and judicial facilities and an independent and transparent investigation into the attack.

The RSF did not immediately comment on the statement.

On Aug. 24, the UN said 1,100 civilians had been killed in drone attacks in Sudan this January to June.

The three states of the Kordofan region — North, West and South Kordofan — have witnessed clashes between the army and the RSF since last October.

Since April 2023, the Sudanese army and the RSF have been engaged in a war that has killed tens of thousands of people and displaced around 13 million, according to UN and international estimates.
