Reneilwe Letsholonyane has opened up about his future in Botswana with his contract reaching its end recently, and some potential interest from clubs in the league.

Letsholonyane had a great first season in the Botswana Premier League as coach of Matebele FC, inspiring the club to a 10th-place finish, which is two places above where they ended up the previous campaign.

‘Yeye’ was recently praised by Botswana national team coach Morena Ramoreboli for the work he did with the youngsters at Matebele, patiently taking his time to help improve their game.

As a result, he bagged himself a coach of the season nomination, a proud moment for him after taking the giant leap of faith to coach one of the less fancied clubs in Botswana. Letsholonyane’s contract has expired, and he is more than open to staying, but a lot will depend on the discussions he has with the club when he returns from Mexico, as part of the 2010 Bafana Bafana players who will be playing against the Mexicans legends on June 7.

“As things stand, we still need to have a conversation with management. Contract finished a few days ago, end of May, so we still have conversations to have,” Letsholonyane said to Soccer Laduma.

“They know that there must be some sort of changes, and the changes are the financial situations. There must be a bit of an improvement within the club itself because if the club becomes financially stable, it means all of us are going to be okay. They are working on it. I think I’ll meet them around the 19th, 20th or 21st (of June) because I’ll be on that side, so we will have a conversation, and then I’ll decide whether we move on or I stay.

“To be honest with you, if someone were to come and invest in that project, that’s the team where I’d stay for another year or two.”

Letsholonyane has revealed that there is interest in his services, but there is nothing concrete.

“There are two or three options on that side. I’ve spoken to two already in terms of interest being there from them, but with two of them, it was just a catch-up, not really into the details and whatnot.”
