Yemen’s STC Vows Continued Escalation Against “Foreign Guardianship”

Aden – Yemen’s Southern Transitional Council (STC) pledged Wednesday to press ahead with its plan of popular escalation against what it described as “foreign guardianship,” stressing that the steps will be carried out in a “coordinated and organized” manner.  

In its regular meeting in Aden, the Administrative Body of the STC’s National Assembly said divisions within the Presidential Leadership Council “reflect confusion and a lack of vision,” adding that such disputes have disrupted the council’s performance. The body praised the resignation of Dr. Badr Basalmah from the government.  

The assembly emphasized the importance of organizing escalation measures effectively, noting that this comes amid “parallel escalation” by hostile forces through continued violations, arrests, and abductions in Hadramout province.  

Members also discussed the implementation of the “roadmap,” coinciding with the export of about 2.5 million barrels of crude oil through Al‑Dhabba terminal in Hadramout. They commended recent remarks by Amr Al‑Beidh, the STC’s representative for foreign affairs, describing them as politically significant and reflective of the council’s core positions.  

The assembly strongly condemned the continued detention of STC leader Mu’een Al‑Maqrahi, expressing full solidarity with him and demanding his immediate release.
