Yemeni Gov‘t Forces Repel Houthi Attack in Al-Dhalea, Launch Counteroffensive

ADEN – Yemeni government forces said on Wednesday they repelled an attack launched by the Iran-backed Houthi group on military positions in the Morais front in Al-Dhalea province in southern Yemen, before carrying out a counteroffensive against the group’s positions.

According to a statement issued by the Media Center of the Yemeni Armed Forces, government troops successfully thwarted the Houthi assault and subsequently launched a counterattack targeting the group’s sites along the front line.

The statement, monitored said the operation came after government forces confronted the Houthi attack in the Morais sector, one of the key frontlines separating forces loyal to the internationally recognized government and the Houthis.

No further details were provided regarding the scale of the clashes or any casualties and material losses resulting from the fighting.

Fighting has continued intermittently across several fronts in Yemen despite ongoing international efforts to revive the peace process and reach a comprehensive political settlement to the country’s prolonged conflict.

The Morais front in Al-Dhalea province has witnessed recurring confrontations between government forces and the Houthis, reflecting the fragility of the military situation in several contested areas of the country.
