Aden — Yemen’s army announced Wednesday it had carried out a series of drone strikes targeting Houthi positions on several battlefronts, reporting casualties among the group while confirming the deaths of two government soldiers in the clashes.
According to the Armed Forces Media Center, drones operated by the Sixth Emergency Division struck Houthi sites in the Maran axis of Saada province, as well as positions in southern Marib and a command center in the Al‑Salu front southeast of Taiz.
Government forces also repelled a Houthi infiltration attempt in the Al‑Anin front of Jabal Habashi district, west of Taiz. The Taiz Military Axis later announced the death of soldier Ziyad Al‑Haribi during fighting in Al‑Salu.
In Shabwa province, the Shabwa Defense Forces said their drone units launched strikes against Houthi targets in Harib (Marib), Ain, Bayhan, and Upper Markha, in retaliation for the killing of soldier Saleh Buraima in a Houthi drone attack. The forces reported inflicting human and material losses on the Houthis but did not provide specific figures.
Meanwhile, Yemen’s National Defense Council vowed to escalate what it called “painful deterrence operations,” accusing the Houthis of targeting displaced persons’ camps, economic facilities, and civilian sites. The council directed expanded aerial and missile operations against sources of threat, coordinated across military formations and fronts.
The escalation comes amid mounting tensions since late June, when the Houthis declared a general mobilization, citing what they describe as a “siege” on their territories accusations denied by Saudi Arabia.
In recent weeks, Houthi forces have intensified attacks on government‑held areas, Saudi territory, and vessels in the Red Sea, while government troops have increasingly relied on drones to strike Houthi positions along the frontlines.
