Yemen :  STC Leader Announces Major Leadership Restructuring

Aden — Aidarous al-Zubaidi, president of the Arab Southern Transitional Council (STC), announced sweeping changes to the council’s leadership structure on Saturday, affecting the presidency, the general secretariat, the national assembly, and local branches in Aden and Hadramawt.

According to the official decree, the STC’s presidential body has been expanded with the addition of 10 new members, raising its total to 22, alongside the president and three vice presidents.

Al-Zubaidi appointed Waddah Nasr al-Halimi as secretary-general of the council’s general secretariat, and Zaid Ahmed al-Naqeeb as assistant secretary-general for provincial affairs.

The restructuring also included appointments within the STC’s National Assembly: Nasr Saleh Harhar was named deputy president, while Nasser Ahmed Howaider and Tariq Abdulmunsef Bazara’a were appointed as first and second assistants to the assembly president.

At the local level, Khaled Ali al-Zamki was appointed head of the executive leadership in Aden, while Ali Ahmed al-Jafri and Abdulmalik Mohsen al-Tamimi were assigned to lead the Hadramawt branch and oversee affairs in the governorate’s valley and desert districts.

These changes follow Thursday’s appointment of former Yemeni foreign minister Khaled Hussein al-Yamani as political adviser to the STC presidency, responsible for U.S. and UN affairs.
