Yemen : STC Condemns Saudi Oversight Authorities’ Attack on Its Headquarters in Mukalla

Mukalla — The Southern Transitional Council (STC) issued a strong condemnation late Monday, denouncing what it described as an assault by Saudi oversight authorities in Hadramout on its headquarters in the city of Mukalla.

According to the STC statement, a force consisting of three military vehicles and dozens of personnel attempted to storm the building, failing to break through the main gate but seizing flags of the South from the guard room. 

The Council said the attackers remain stationed outside the compound, raising concerns of a renewed attempt to storm the premises.

The STC accused Saudi authorities in Hadramout of systematically targeting political, military, and popular forces in the region, warning that such actions have deepened local tensions and worsened security and living conditions.

The Council stressed that the incident highlights the impossibility of achieving stability in Hadramout under current oversight structures, calling for unified efforts among southern forces to confront what it described as “oppressive policies of guardianship and looting.”

The statement further warned that any renewed attempt to raid the headquarters or pursue STC leaders would provoke an angry popular reaction with unpredictable consequences.
