Yemen forces take Hays, report advances as Houthis fire missiles at Taiz

Aden, Sept. 06 (SANA)   Yemeni government forces said Sunday they had taken full control of Hays district in Hodeidah province and made gains in Taiz and Al-Jawf, as Houthi forces fired three ballistic missiles at Taiz city.

Yemen’s Saba News Agency quoted a military source as saying government forces secured the remaining rural areas of Hays on Saturday evening. Hays city was already under government control.

The source said government forces had begun operations in neighboring Al-Jarrahi district and advanced toward Houthi positions. The military reported Houthi casualties but gave no figures.

In Taiz province, government forces said they captured several positions on the Hayfan front during clashes with Houthi forces.

Separately, three Houthi ballistic missiles struck areas west of Taiz city early Sunday, Saba reported. The missiles landed near the Social Welfare building, the Faculty of Medicine and the Central Prison. No casualties or material damage were reported.

The attack came a day after a Houthi ballistic missile struck a civilian gathering in Taiz province, killing four people and injuring nine others, according to the agency.

In Al-Jawf, Yemeni armed forces spokesman Col. Majed al-Nuzaili said government forces targeted Houthi fighters and capabilities at Al-Labanat camp. Government forces reported shooting down several Houthi drones on other fronts, including one east of Al-Hazm.

On Yemen’s western coast, the National Resistance said its air defenses downed several drones, including FPV and reconnaissance aircraft and two fiber-optic-guided attack drones on the Al-Barh front.

Fighting continues in Hodeidah, Taiz and Al-Jawf between government forces and the Houthis.
