Yemen Calls for International Probe into Iranian Plane Cargo at Sana’a Airport

Aden — Yemen’s internationally recognized government has demanded an international investigation into the cargo of an Iranian aircraft that landed at Sana’a International Airport, which remains under Houthi control.

Government officials said the arrival of the plane raised “serious concerns” about the nature of its shipment, warning that it could violate international sanctions and further destabilize the conflict‑torn country.

“The government urges the United Nations and the international community to immediately launch a transparent inquiry into the contents of the Iranian aircraft that entered Sana’a,” a statement read, stressing that unchecked flights risk being used to deliver prohibited materials.

The call comes amid heightened tensions over direct Iranian flights to Houthi‑held territory, which Yemeni authorities have repeatedly denounced as a breach of sovereignty. Officials warned that such flights could be exploited to transport weapons or military equipment under the guise of humanitarian or civilian cargo.

No details have yet been released about the specific cargo carried by the Iranian plane, but Yemeni authorities insist that international monitoring is essential to prevent further escalation.
