Yemen : 3 Soldiers Killed, 7 Wounded in Clashes with Houthis in Taiz

Taiz — The spokesperson for the joint forces aligned with Yemen’s government on the western coast, Waddah al‑Dubeish, announced Saturday that 3 soldiers were killed and 7 others wounded from the National Resistance during fierce clashes with Houthi fighters in the al‑Barh axis of Taiz province.

In a statement posted on the U.S. platform X, al‑Dubeish said the fighting erupted Friday when Houthi forces launched a multi‑front assault on National Resistance positions, supported by artillery fire and infiltration attempts.

He noted that resistance units carried out counter‑maneuvers and ambushes, inflicting “between 45 and 55 killed, wounded, or missing” among the Houthis, while destroying several vehicles and fire support assets. Drone units also participated in surveillance and targeting operations, forcing the attackers to retreat.

The Houthis have not issued an immediate response to the claims.

Earlier Saturday, the Yemeni army reported that one port security officer was killed, two sailors went missing, and eight civilians were injured after six ballistic missiles struck Mokha port Friday night. Army spokesman Colonel Majed al‑Nuzaili vowed that the attack “will not go unpunished and will be met with a harsh and deterrent response.”

For their part, the Houthis claimed responsibility for the Mokha strike, saying they targeted “Saudi military reinforcements, weapons, and warboats” with a large number of ballistic missiles, without mentioning casualties.
