Baghdad (IraqiNews.com) — Streaming platform Yango Play has debuted in Iraq under an exclusive deal with Iraqi digital entertainment business 1001, another milestone in Iraq’s fast-growing online media space.
Under the agreement 1001 will be the sole distributor of Yango Play in Iraq’s corporate sector including telecommunication firms and internet service providers.
The cooperation extends the choice of legal streaming services for Iraqi consumers and companies, making Yango Play’s library of films, television shows, music material, original productions, and AI-driven features accessible in the Iraqi market.
Iraq’s premier OTT aggregation platform, 1001, is preparing to launch a “Super Bundle” which will include numerous international and regional streaming services all on one platform.
The concept aims to make it easier for consumers to access digital entertainment, enabling them to manage subscriptions with one account, one search, and one payment method, the business claims.
The debut is part of wider shifts in Iraq’s digital economy, as growing internet penetration and smartphone use drive demand for streaming services and online content.
Industry players also view these agreements as a way to counter piracy by facilitating consumers’ access to legal entertainment material via local distribution channels.
Yango Play is the latest in a series of foreign platforms to attempt to make an impact in Iraq as competition rises in the country’s streaming and digital media business.
The partnership also illustrates significant investment in Iraq’s technology and entertainment industries, with local firms increasingly working with foreign brands to extend digital offerings for Iraqi customers.
