World Cup Round of 32 live updates: Canada stuns South Africa to advance plus latest results and news
The World Cup knockout stage has arrived.
After 17 days of group stage drama, the 2026 tournament shifts Sunday to the Round of 32, where every match is now win-or-go-home. And in the first elimination game, the co-hosts advanced after some late drama.

Stephen Eustáquio scored deep into stoppage time to lift Canada to a dramatic 1-0 victory over South Africa on Sunday in the opening match of the World Cup knockout stage. Captain Alphonso Davies made his tournament debut after missing the entire group stage with a hamstring injury and immediately provided a boost as Jesse Marsch’s side survived to keep its title hopes alive.
Canada advances to face the winner of Monday’s Round of 32 match between Morocco and the Netherlands on July 4 in Houston.

Stephen Eustáquio produced the biggest moment in Canadian men’s soccer history on Sunday.
Eustáquio scored a 92nd minute goal to give Canada a 1-0 win in the World Cup Round of 32 over South Africa. Eustáquio buried the shot after a headed clearance fell right in front of him at the top of the penalty box.
