Wisdom Samuel bids Rivers United farewell after Cyprus Move

Former Heartland FC winger, Wisdom Samuel has thanked Rivers United following his move to North Cyprus side Dumlupinar TSK, bringing his stay with the Nigeria Premier Football League club to an end.

The winger joined Dumlupinar in August 2026 after an impressive season with Rivers United, where he established himself as one of the Pride of Rivers’ standout performers.

Samuel, who can operate from the left wing and across the attack, signed for the Cypriot club on August 13, with his contract expected to run until May 30, 2027.

Before joining Rivers United last season, Samuel had spells with Sporting Lagos and Heartland FC, gaining valuable NPFL experience before taking another step forward in Port Harcourt.

In an open letter following his departure, Samuel expressed appreciation to the Rivers United management, coaches, players and supporters for their role in his development.

 “To the entire Rivers United family, I want to sincerely say thank you,” Samuel wrote.

“Thank you to the management, coaching staff, my teammates and the amazing supporters for believing in me, supporting me and giving me the opportunity to grow as a player.

“My time at Rivers United has been an incredible experience filled with beautiful memories, valuable lessons and unforgettable moments.”

Samuel said he was leaving the club with fond memories as he begins his first chapter in Cypriot football.

“As I begin a new chapter in my career, I leave with nothing but love, gratitude and respect. Rivers United will always have a special place in my heart.

 “Thank you, Rivers United, for everything. I wish the club success and a great season ahead. Up Rivers!”
