Weah’s supporters, who thronged the venue, chanted anti-government slogans amid a brief scuffle between the former president’s security detail and police.
Weah recently ended speculation about his political future, saying he will seek the presidency again in the 2029 elections. Some supporters at the venue on Thursday reportedly called on him to adopt a harder stance – specifically against allies whom they accused of “damaging his administration” – if he is to make a return to the presidency.
