Finnish industrial heavyweight Wartsila will supply five Wartsila 32 engines to a 14-megawatt power plant at the Diamba Sud gold project in Senegal, according to a press release.
The order was placed by Africa Power Services on behalf of Fortuna Mining. The mining project is in a remote location and will therefore be fully reliant on the power plant for its electricity supply. Fortuna Mining also plans to add renewable energy to the system going forward.
The equipment is scheduled for delivery in March 2027, and the power plant is expected to enter service before the end of that year.
The order was booked in the second quarter of 2026. No financial details were disclosed.
Fortuna Mining is a Canadian mining company focused on the Diamba Sud project.
